BRIDGES AMBASSADOR CLASSROOM PROGRAM

The Bridges Ambassador Program connects middle and high school classrooms in Seattle, Washington, USA, India, Peru, South Africa, Guatemala and other countries. In this program, teachers and their students are highly supported by Bridges staff and volunteers in following the Bridges project-based learning curriculum and in the production of digital stories.

Students explore Culture and Traditions, Conflict and Reconciliation and Environmental Sustainability from local and global perspectives. Students share and learn with international peers through teacher-facilitated online dialogues using the Bridges website, and through creating digital stories.

Students develop a sense of global interconnectedness, an understanding of the implications of global problems for each other’s regions, and empowerment to act on the issues that affect youth locally and globally. Youth gain skills in research, communication, writing, photography, cross-cultural understanding and technology while increasing their awareness of global issues. Teachers also have access to a curriculum kit, including DVD with digital stories, equipment loan from Bridges, and other Bridges online curriculum and resources throughout the year.

Ambassador Program sites have been working with Bridges for multiple years to develop strong, innovative digital storytelling programs in their schools.
